Shenkman Jewish Center Dedication

Wednesday morning, November 14, 2018, the William & Mary and Williamsburg community came together to dedicate the Shenkman Jewish Center. After a private tour of the new center, the Shenkman family participated in the public ribbon-cutting. Remarks were given by Rabbi Gershon Litt, Director, Hillel at William & Mary; President Katherine A. Rowe; Eric Fingerhut, President and CEO of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life; Alexina Haefner ’19, Hillel Student Board President; Mark Shenkman HON ’15, P’03. A luncheon followed the ceremony. The ceremony took place at the site on at the corner of Cary and Jamestown Rd. merely 280 days after the groundbreaking ceremony that was held on February 7, 2018. Following the ceremony, a luncheon was held in the Great Hall of the Wren Building where President Rowe presented the Shenkmans with a framed replica of the commemorative plaque that is in the SJC entrance.
