Wine & Run for the Roses, presented by The Muscarelle!

Not even the rains could dampen the mood of the nearly 400 that turned out for the annual Muscarelle Museum of Art’s Wine and Run for the Roses, held on Phi Beta Kappa Lawn Saturday afternoon, May 5, 2012. Attendees were treated to a smorgasbord of heavy h’ordeuvres and wines from ten different wineries as they bid on items in the silent auction. The live auction, featuring an incredible lineup of wine lots and other luxury items, was followed by a live telecast of the Kentucky Derby.

Nearly 100 members of the Class of ’62 made it back to Williamsburg to reconnect as they revisited the Wren Yard to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their graduation. The Olde Guarde Induction ceremony was followed by a Service of Remembrance.

Winter Graduation, 2011!

On Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2011, W&M held a reception for degree candidates having completed their course requirements over the summer and fall terms. College President Taylor Reveley presented diplomas in the Chesapeake Room of the Sadler Center.

What a Weekend!

We weren’t sure what to expect with all the changes made to the Homecoming Weekend programming. It appears, though, that it was an overwhelming success!

For the first time, everything – the parade, the reunions, and the Bash – were all held on campus. The Homecoming Parade took place Friday afternoon, winding through campus and bringing everyone home to the Alumni House for a block party on Richmond Road, with music provided by The Dimeslots. The house was abuzz with activity, including the return of Class Photos. On Saturday the Sunken Garden was celebration central, home to the reunion tailgates in the afternoon and the Bash that evening.

Enough praise cannot be given to the Alumni Association staff for pulling of this spectacular event!

2011 Cheek Medals

On Friday evening, September 23, 2011, the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary recognized two new recipients of the Cheek Award. Even though the weather drove the event indoors, the staff handled the venue-shift with characteristic aplomb and pulled off an evening worthy of the honorees.

The W&M Law School held a reception in the Great Hall of the Wren Building to honor Robert and Elizabeth Scott for endowing a research chair at the Law School. The reception was held Thursday evening, September 22, 2011 in the Great Hall of the Wren Building.

The Muscarelle presents Wine & Run for the Roses!

The Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William & Mary held their first annual Wine and Run for the Roses event Saturday afternoon, May 7, 2011. A decked-out crowd of over 300 enjoyed a spectacular afternoon of great company, great wines, cheeses, and h’ordeuvres. The event opened with a silent auction, followed by a spirited live auction, and ended with a live telecast of the Kentucky Derby. Even though the final numbers are not yet available, it appears that the event was very, very successful.
